Materials Used & Features
Handle
Pakkawood is a premium material renowned for its blend of durability, beauty, and practicality in crafting high-quality knife handles. Composed of multiple layers of hardwood impregnated with resin, pakkawood undergoes intense pressure and heat treatment to achieve its dense, moisture-resistant composition. This process not only enhances its strength and longevity but also imbues each handle with a unique grain pattern and rich color variations, reminiscent of natural wood.
Beyond its aesthetic appeal, Pakkawood handles offer a smooth, comfortable grip that remains stable and secure even when wet. This makes them ideal for kitchen tools like knives, where control and precision are paramount. The material's resistance to expansion and contraction due to temperature and moisture changes ensures the handle maintains its integrity over time, providing chefs and culinary enthusiasts with reliable performance and enduring beauty.
Pakkawood's ability to seamlessly blend traditional craftsmanship with modern technology makes it a favored choice among knife makers seeking to elevate both the functionality and aesthetics of their products. Whether in a professional kitchen or at home, pakkawood handles represent a harmonious balance of artistry, durability, and practicality, enhancing the culinary experience with every slice and chop.
Blade
Our blades consist of 7CR17Mov Stainless Steel: made up of Carbon (to maintain hardness and edge retention), Chromium (which contributes to durability and corrosion resistenace) as well as Molybdendum and Vanadium (for strength and wear resistance). Our blades are tough, sharpen easily and are reliable and easy to maintain.
Damascus Steel
Each knife features a stunning pattern of layered steel. Each knife is not only a tool but a work of art, reflecting the time-honored tradition of Japanese blade making.
Construction
Our blades are Full Tang blades which represent the pinnacle of durability and strength in knife construction, renowned for their robustness and reliability. A full tang knife is crafted from a single piece of metal that extends from the tip of the blade to the end of the handle, providing unparalleled stability and balance. This design ensures that the blade and handle are seamlessly integrated, offering superior control and reducing the risk of breakage or detachment during heavy use.
The Full Tang construction enhances the knife's structural integrity, making it capable of withstanding rigorous tasks such as chopping, slicing, and cutting with precision and ease. It also distributes weight evenly along the knife, resulting in a comfortable grip and reducing fatigue during extended periods of use.
Ergonomic Design
Our knives consist of thoughtfully designed handles providing a comfortable, secure grip, allowing for precise control and reduced hand fatigue during extended use.
